There are several kinds of acne:

Acne that causes scars

If you have acne that leaves scar you can use acne treatment which has azelaic acid in it. It will cure acne and minimize the risk of scars.

Blackheads and Bumps

It’s commonly known as comedonal acne. If you are suffering from blackheads and bumps you should use a product that carries retinoids in it.

Mild Acne

If you have mild acne to fight with then on your mild acne you should use topical cream like benzoyl peroxide.

Inflammatory Acne

If you are suffering from inflammatory acne you must use five percent dapsone gel as it’s advised by doctors.

You should give time to your acne treatment at least a month, if you keep on changing an acne treatment it will not cure it properly.

Here are a few things which will help you in recovering from acne:

1. Don’t Touch It

It’s a common urge to touch your face when a new pimple erupts. Although when you keep on touching your face with your hands, the acne will spread from one area to another. As our hands are full of germs and bacteria it will make matters worse. So when a pimple appears on your skin try to treat it instead of touching it.

2. Go Easy on theCarbs and Sugar

Yes, you heard it right sugar and complex carbs tend to cause acne. If you have acne-prone skin then eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and keep yourself well hydrated. Stop consuming pasta, white bread, and sugary stuff as it contains a high glycemic index which causes acne. Making changes in your diet will greatly reduce acne breakouts on your face.

3. CleanseYour FaceBefore Going to Bed

When we use different types of cosmetic products on our face, it clogs our pores and causes acne breakout. Before going to bed one must clean her face first then go to sleep. You should be using a gentle cleanser or makeup remover to clean face then wash your face with lukewarm water then retire to bed. Makeup that remains on your face clogs the pores and causes the bacteria to grow. Therefore, to avoid the breakouts you must clean your face. If you are too busy to properly clean your face then use makeup removing wipes as it can also get the job done without any hassle. Keep the makeup removing wipes in handy for those lazy days when you are too tired to wash your face at night.

4. Buy Non-comedogenic Makeup

There are many types of makeup available in the market. Non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic makeup is a new type of makeup that won’t clog your pores so chances of acne will automatically decrease. If you find out that your skin is acting weird and is reacting badly to the chemicals in the normal make-up then buy more noncomedogenic makeup so that chances of acne reduce.

5. Choose the Right Cleanser

There are many cleaners available in the market. When buying face wash one must look for better ingredients and the skin type it will be beneficial for. There are face washes for particular skin type if you have very sensitive skin then always look for lactic acid or glycerin in your cleanser.

6. Stop Stressing Over

Stress is another cause of acne. Yes, you heard it right. Chronic stress can imbalance our hormones which triggers cortisol (stress hormone) to send oil into our pores which along with bacteria causes acne. Try meditation to release stress. Or better yet try yoga. Try relaxing and do breathing exercises, for example, breathe in and breathe outten times when you feel stressed out. It will immediately release the pressure and you will feel more relaxed. Do these breathing exercises to feel stress-free.

7. See the Doctor

If you are having acne and no remedy is working out for you then its better to see help for an expert. Go to a dermatologist to find out the underlying cause. A dermatologist will see from a microscope what is happening underneath your skin. He will recommend oral and topical medication which can help reduce the appearance of scars and control your acne. He may further guide you in what foods to avoid and give you a balanced diet chart.

8. See the makeup you are using

Many times while using cosmetic products we don’t see its expiry date. Using expired products will cause acne and breakout and even other skin infections. So always keep a check on the expiry date of your make up and also look out for signs of an expired product. For example foul smell and discoloration of the product.

Everyone has different skin types and different skin conditions. Always make sure to check ingredients used in particular cosmetic product. Particular ingredients do not suit a particular skin type.  Avoid those ingredients which don’t suit your skin. Make sure to always wash your make up brushes first then use it, which is another cause of acne.

9. Wash Your Hands

We should always touch our faces with clean and washed hands. Our hands carry germs as we have been working the whole time, always wash your hands or sanitize them before applying anything from hands as it will keep you safe from the infections.

10. Moisturize Your Skin

The majority of people stop moisturizing skin if they feel their skin is oily but it’s a myth. If you have oily skin then buy a lightweight moisturizer to moisturize your skin. Another term that is used in the market recently is noncomedogenic. Which means it will not clog your pores and will be gentle for your skin.

When you stop moisturizing your skin it will become dry and flakey. Then your skin will start producing more oil so that your skin doesn’t dry out. Thus it results in more oily and acne-prone skin.

12. Exfoliate Your Skin

If you regularly exfoliate your skin with gentle scrubs then you can get rid of dry, dead skin. If you skip on the exfoliation step then your dry skin will eventually clog your pores by producing more oils.

Conclusion

If you want to fight acne you have to change your routine. Make healthy choices and get enough sleep. Don’t stress over petty issues. Relax as much as you can. Exercise to release stress, be happy. Moreover, don’t forget to wash your face, clean your hands before touching your face. Always take physicians’ help and follows acne treatment seriously. Hopefully, this will help you in treating your acne problem.
