Disadvantages of Eating Muffins Regularly

Breakfast is the king of all meals and rightly so as it is the most important meal of the day. However, considering muffins a healthy choice for breakfast is not a healthy choice at all unless they are homemade. Muffins from stores can’t even be compared to the homemade muffins. However, even the homemade ones are not really a healthy choice.

Loaded with Preservatives and Chemicals

The muffins available in the stores are loaded with harmful chemicals to preserve them for a longer shelf life. They are also high in calories. These chemicals and ingredients are harmful for you and your family in the long run if you eat the muffins on regular basis.

Packed with Processed Sugar and Fats

One more reason to avoid consuming store-bought muffins is that they are packed with sugar and fats which is detrimental to your health. This combination of sugar and fats also mean that if you eat the muffin from the store, you are also consuming high calories.

If you can’t resist eating muffins altogether, then the best option for you would be to bake them at home with a check and balance of sugar. You also have the option to substitute some of the ingredients for a healthier option. Baking the muffins at home would allow you to consume less sugars and fats.

Loaded with Unhealthy Calories

Are there some healthy kinds of muffin? Over all the answer would be negative. Occasionally a home-baked muffin may be good enough to satisfy your sweet-tooth but consuming muffins on daily basis can wreak havoc on your health. With a single muffin carrying 665 calories, you can imagine what would happen to your health and body if eaten regularly.

Low-fat but Lethal Choice

What Muffins are Healthy? The obvious answer would be “the low-fat ones.” However, this is far from the truth. In fact the so called low-calorie muffins should be avoided completely. For instance, you may find a zucchini walnut muffin but still it has 485 calories. Instead of a tiny muffin, you can satisfy your taste-buds with a healthier and delicious ton of dark chocolate. And how can you be sure if the zucchini used is fresh or fake. Secondly, how can you be sure if real zucchini has been used in that muffin is fake or real? So next time you decide to stop and shop muffins, think twice. Instead of a tasteless choice, you can opt for a much delicious option for dessert.

Unhealthy Breakfast Option

Are muffins healthy breakfast option? The answer is, no, they are not. Muffins may be popular as a breakfast option, but if you ask health experts, they will forbid you to eat even one. Consuming too much sugar first thing in the morning may give your body an instant boost for a short amount of time but the rest of the day, you would feel heavy and lethargic. Muffins are simply cake and eating cake in the morning is not acceptable.
